"Harry is a remarkably sweet black Labrador Retriever puppy who is lucky to be alive. He came to live with us at 14 weeks old, and it was clear from the start that he was led by his stomach. He set new standards for trying to consume socks, stuffed animals, and anything else he could sink his teeth into, so I did what I'd never done before and I decided to get pet insurance.
"After extensive research, the choice of Embrace was clear. They were responsive, friendly, and affordable. I thought surely that by buying pet insurance I was 'insuring against' ever needing it. That all changed one day in October when I was woken up early in the morning by Harry crying in a way I had never heard before. Before I even saw him, I knew something was terribly wrong. I found Harry lying on the floor in pain, surrounded by vomit and blood. As soon as I was next to him, he stopped crying and I was sure he was going to die.
"I rushed him to the local veterinary hospital where an amazing team of veterinary surgeons and ICU doctors worked tirelessly to save Harry's life. He had emergency surgery to help diagnose and fix his problem. They found his entire small intestine swollen and bloody. And while he did have a small sock inside his small intestine, it is not clear that this caused all his problems. He was in septic shock and this led to a stroke, leaving him blind in the right eye and weak on the right side.
"For many days it remained unclear whether Harry would pull though. But the vet hospital did not give up, and neither did Harry — with expert rehabilitation and on-going care, Harry made a near-full recovery and was home with us two weeks later just as happy as ever! I submitted the large bill to Embrace with bated breath. Not only did Embrace cover almost the entire bill, the Embrace representative in my area reached out to my local vet to let them know Harry's claim would be covered. I received the reimbursement checks within a few days!
"If the story ended here, it would already be wonderful. But it gets better. Just one month after being discharged from the hospital, Harry developed a high fever and lethargy. With the surgery and severe illness he had the month before, I was very worried that this was somehow connected — and so were his veterinarians. He required an extensive workup to rule out underlying infection related to his surgery or other serious condition. Fortunately, nothing scary was uncovered and Harry recovered quickly. And Embrace was there for us again. I submitted the bill and was alerted less than a week later that the charges would be covered. Thank you, Embrace!"
