Top 10 Embracer Moments

Chris, as a dog

1. When we were sharing office space with a tech company, Lea’s dog Lyger escaped the call center and dashed into their board meeting and dashed around under their table, sniffing a bunch of guys in suits while they were on a conference call

2. Chris burning his hot pocket by putting it in the microwave for 30 minutes instead of the usual 3 minutes on the same day we had a Board meeting. Luckily we were so small, our Board meeting was down the road, not in our office

3. The first time Kate did a nice arabesque on her roller blades past Laura’s office window when she was in a meeting

4. Celebrating our break even point. After a lot of belt tightening, we reached breakeven and had a whole week of celebrations where Embrace paid to have our cars washed in the parking lot, a masseuse come in, drinks and hors d'oeuvres at a local bar and last but not least a coffee mug that said “Embrace broke even and all I got was this stinking mug”.

5. When we discovered that Sara was an amazing singer as she was discovered practicing for her latest role in a musical while packing marketing materials. A bunch of us went to see the production.

6. Pitching to Martha Stewart for Martha Stewart Pet Insurance in 2010. After researching everything there was to know about her and putting together the perfect deck she said yes; however, it turned out to be too much money for our meager budget so we had to let that one pass by. An amazing experience nonetheless.

7.  When someone showed up early for an interview in our second tiny office and there was no waiting area for them to hang out in. They went away and just never came back.

8. Deciding on our name. When Laura and Alex put together a survey for pet parents with about 5 suggestions that they had come up with the first pass through was rather underwhelming, with the top choice rating a lowly 2.4 out of 5. They kept getting suggestions though that perhaps we should reflect the emotional  bond between the pet parent and the pet. So they re-submitted the survey with Embrace (Alex's suggestion) and Angel (Laura’s suggestion) added. We knew we had a winner when Embrace got a 4.9 out of 5.

9. When someone was waiting for an interview in our third location that did have a seating area and one of the dogs in the office had a severe case of diarrhea right in front of her. Didn't put her off though - that was Jenna, now our Claims Manager

10. Speaking of Jenna, no one can forget the the time Chris lost a bet to Jenna and had to wear a dog suit all day
