RescueBox: A Cat & Dog Subscription Box That Gives Back

By Lea Jaratz

Dog Subscription Box

I’ve finally found a service that provides three of my favorite feelings in one package:

  1. Getting mail.
  2. Giving my puppers goodies and toys.
  3. Giving back to rescue pets.

What is this awesome 3-in-1 winner you ask? RescueBox!

RescueBox is a monthly cat and dog subscription box service, delivering over $40 worth of treats and goodies, starting at just $23.45 per month. But it’s so much more than chew toys and cookies. They’ve partnered with RescueBank and GreaterGood to facilitate donations of food and vaccines to shelters, helping animals become healthy and adoptable. Ordering your own box of goodies might literally save a life.

They offer 1, 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions. The longer your subscription, the more supplies you donate. For example, RescueBox explains:

“Our 12 month commitment is only $23.45 per month and will vaccinate 24 shelter pets and will provide 60 pounds of pet food to shelter pets every single month through our partners at Rescue Bank.”

RescueBox Pet Subscription Box

That means that a year of monthly deliveries will vaccinate a total of 288 pets and 720 pounds of food to local shelters. Plus, you’ll be getting $480 worth of pet toys and treats, paying only $281.40. So you’re saving yourself nearly $200. (Wouldn’t it be fun to donate that savings or some of the items back to your own local shelter?)

Since we’re talking about fun finds, let’s unbox our RescueBox:

RescueBox kindly sent us this large breed (50+ Lbs) box for review. In this “monster”-themed box Kayden received a package of chicken jerky, a yummy molasses cookie, a rope tug toy, a Monster Mouth enrichment toy and his new favorite stuffy friend. Let’s take a look at a couple of the items specially selected for him

Monster Mouth Treat Dispensing Toy

It’s a ball. It’s a treat dispenser. It’s both! Stick your dog’s favorite cookie, peanut butter, or cheese in the Monster Mouth and let them work at it. It’ll keep them busy and satisfy their need to gnaw and chew. I love that it’s bouncy and a bit hard for Kayden to hold on to, so it really makes him work for his reward.

Patchwork Pet Monster

A tough guy like Kayden could have gutted this super soft toy in seconds, but the Patchwork Pet Monster is his new BFF. It hasn’t left his side for 24 hours now and seems to be ticking all the boxes for my toy-loving canine. It’s got ropey arms, a not-too-obnoxious squeaker, and lots of soft cuddly monster fur. It’s a monster-dog bromance.

If you want to scope out more of the toys and goodies that ship in the RescueBox packages, you can shop individual goodies. But I suggest giving the subscription a try. It’s well worth the monthly subscription fee, to get some practical and useful items for your cat or dog, all the while helping shelter animals get healthy and find forever homes.
