Background

Jack was first taken to the vet in February with a hacking cough. He was diagnosed with tracheobronchitis and sent home with medication. When things hadn't cleared up after a little over a week, Jack was taken back to the vet where it was discovered he was suffering from pneumonia. More medication was provided and another week went by but Jack's condition continued.

Finally, he was referred to a specialist who did some testing and was able to diagnose Jack with blastomycosis, a rare fungal infection that was causing all of Jack's ongoing symptoms. Once diagnosed, Jack was hospitalized for 4 days as they monitored his lung function and started a course of treatment. Recovery from blastomycosis is a long process but Jack is a fighter and we're glad to hear he's doing well so far.

Here's what Jack's pet parent, Tammy T. had to say:

"Back in October/November of last year, the topic of pet insurance kept coming up. I had this false sense of security, since both of our fur kids were still relatively young (4 and 5 years old), that we still had time to get coverage. How much can go wrong with a 4 and 5 year old? All I can say, we had an angel watching over us!! I did enroll with Embrace in November, and in March our 5-year old, Jack, was diagnosed with blastomycosis. I had never even heard of it. Since the condition is considered rare, the outcome was relatively unpredictable. Both my husband's and my emotions were just all over the place. I can not even begin to explain what a relief it was to know that Embrace was there to provide financial assurances, when everything else seemed so unsure. I am so glad we choose Embrace. Looking back now, I can't believe that I ever thought that insurance for my pets was optional. You just never know what could happen, and if you love your pet, you want the very best for them (that would be Embrace). Additionally, every time I file a claim and get an email back verifying that my claim had been received, I feel like the people who work for Embrace really do care about Jack (and Max, my other fur kid)."
