Embrace Increases Enrollment Age Limits

We’ve always had a soft spot for senior pets at Embrace but, unfortunately, our age limits didn’t always reflect it. Senior pets hoping to enroll were limited to Accident-only coverage causing many multi-pet households with senior pets to look elsewhere so they could get full accident and illness coverage for all their pets with the same carrier.

Our first senior pet, a 12 year old Siamese named Waffle, joined the Embrace family in late July.

Thankfully, times have changed! We’re proud to announce that cats and dogs age 14 and younger can now enroll with full accident and illness coverage. 9 year old Great Dane? 13 year old Tabby? 10 year old Yorkie? Sign them up! Pets who enroll with full coverage keep it for life, we never drop coverage as a pet ages or if you submit claims.

So how can we afford to insure senior pets? Just like with pets who enroll when they’re young, premiums increase with age. You’ll likely pay a little more to insure a senior pet than someone signing up their puppy or kitten. If you’re finding the cost prohibitive, adjust the deductible and reimbursement level to bring down the price. You’ll pay a little bit more when making a claim initially to reach your annual deductible but you’ll be covered when a big expense strikes (which, not surprisingly, could be more likely with a senior pet).

The most important thing to consider when insuring a senior pet is pre-existing conditions. Pre-existing conditions are those that have been diagnosed or shown clinical signs or symptoms before the pet insurance policy was purchased or during the waiting period. Before signing up, it is important to understand the difference between pre-existing conditions Embrace deems curable and incurable. Incurable conditions will be permanently excluded under your pet insurance policy.

Wondering if something in your senior pet’s medical history might be considered a pre-existing condition? We want you to be as confident with your Embrace policy purchase as possible. That’s why we offer a medical history review with a 30-day money back guarantee. Once you’ve enrolled your pet, submit his medical history and we’ll tell you which conditions, if any, are pre-existing and for how long. That way, you won’t be surprised when it comes time to file a claim. Don’t like what we find? Cancel your policy in the first 30 days and receive a full refund.
