Downgrading

This lowers your premium and will not impact your coverage. Downgrading means:

  • Increasing your annual deductible. For example, from $300 to $500.
  • Decreasing your annual maximum. For example, from $15,000 to $10,000.
  • Decreasing your reimbursement from 90% to 80% or 65%.

Upgrading

When upgrading coverage, your pet will be subject to re-underwriting, including waiting periods. This means that any illnesses/conditions that occurred prior to the upgrade date, even if you haven't seen a vet yet, will be considered pre-existing and will not be covered moving forward. Upgrading means:

  • Decreasing your deductible. For example, from $500 to $300.
  • Increasing your annual maximum. For example, from $5,000 to $10,000.
  • Increasing your reimbursement from 80% to 90%.
