Surgery Coverage

Surgery is a scary word when your pet is hurt or sick, and the vet bills that follow are usually thousands of dollars. Embrace includes surgery coverage in our comprehensive medical insurance for pets at no extra cost.

What’s Included in the Cost of Your Pet’s Surgery

If you’ve ever seen a medical bill for a human surgery, you know how expensive they are before (and many times even after) insurance. Believe it or not, veterinarians often use the same equipment, medication, and techniques on pets – no wonder the vet bill is steep!

Embrace covers all parts of surgery including:

  • Exam fees
  • Anesthesia
  • Vet & tech time
  • Overnight observation
  • Medical waste fees
  • Prescriptions given by veterinary staff
  • Follow-up care
  • Rehabilitation
  • Take-home prescriptions*

We understand that deciding on surgery is tough. If finances are a concern, Embrace offers an optional pre-certification process so you know what’s covered beforehand. Pre-certification is never required, but is available to provide you peace of mind.

Common Surgical Procedures

Whether a pet needs surgery because of a genetic condition, an emergency situation, or otherwise, Embrace has you covered. Common diagnoses that require surgery include:

  • Luxating patellas
  • Hip dysplasia
  • IVDD
  • Tumor removal
  • Parvo
  • Gastroenteritis
  • Periodontal disease

Surgical Coverage Exclusions

Every pet insurance plan has exclusions, and Embrace is no different. Surgeries that are not covered include:
