22 Reasons to Consider Embrace Over 24PetWatch

1. 24PetWatch has Itemized Limitations for Wellness Plans

Because they have limits per-item, any leftover funds in their set categories are lost if they’re not used.

Embrace promotes, rewards, and encourages healthy pets by offering Wellness Rewards, an optional non-insurance product that reimburses for everyday veterinary, grooming, and training costs with no itemized limits. And our wellness covers all the same things no matter which limit you select.

2. 24PetWatch Doesn’t Allow You to Personalize Your Policy Any Way

24PetWatch restricts certain deductible options for higher plans making policyholders pay more for the coverage that they want. Embrace lets you personalize your policy any way that you want to ensure you’re getting the best plan for you and your furry friend.

24PetWatch also doesn’t allow their wellness plan to be added to their Essential or Accident Only levels. Wellness Rewards can be added to any policy option that you pick with Embrace.

3. Embrace Offers the Industry’s Best Diminishing Deductible Feature

With Embrace’s Healthy Pet Deductible, your pet's annual deductible automatically goes down by $50 each year you don't receive a claim reimbursement. This is included with every policy at no extra charge.

4. Embrace has the Same Illness Waiting Period No Matter the Plan

24PetWatch’s Essential plan has a 30-day waiting period for illnesses. Embrace doesn’t make you wait longer because of the plan that you pick – every illness waiting period is 14 days.

5. Embrace Offers Better Complementary Treatments Coverage

24PetWatch limits reimbursement to $1,000/year for complementary treatments used to treat covered conditions. When it comes to treatment, Embrace wants you to be able to consider any and all options presented by your veterinarian, which is why we cover complementary treatments up to the annual maximum on every policy.

6. Embrace Requires Less Medical History to Process Claims

24PetWatch requires two years of pet medical records to process claims. That means they can deny a claim if something happened two years ago! Embrace only needs the last 12 months of records or, for new pets, records back to the first visit you’ve had with them.

7. 24PetWatch Doesn’t Review Medical Records Before Claim Time

24PetWatch does not offer any review of a pet’s medical records at enrollment, leaving it to be done when the first claim is filed. Embrace offers you an optional Medical History Review. If your pet has any pre-existing conditions, this review will let you know how they could affect your coverage moving forward.

8. 24PetWatch Excludes Illness Coverage for Certain Conditions

24PetWatch does not allow cats who have been diagnosed with or who have shown symptoms of feline leukemia or feline immunodeficiency virus and dogs over five years of age who have been diagnosed with or who have shown symptoms of demodex to have illness coverage – they are eligible for an accident-only plan. Embrace does not exclude these pets from having illness coverage, we just would not be able to cover that pre-existing condition or any related conditions.

9. 24PetWatch Doesn’t Cover Preventable Conditions

24PetWatch does not cover conditions that are preventable with vaccine, medication, or spaying/neutering if a pet is not spayed or neutered before their first birthday. Embrace covers preventable conditions, including anything related to unspayed/unneutered pets if you choose not to have that done.

10. Pets Can Get Covered Sooner with Embrace

24PetWatch does not insure pets under eight weeks old. Embrace allows you to begin coverage for pets at six weeks old so that you can get them covered sooner.

11. Senior Pets Have More Coverage Options with Embrace

The maximum age that a dog can be enrolled in 24PetWatch is 10 years old, and for a cat is 12 years old. Embrace allows both dogs and cats to be enrolled in accident and illness insurance up to their 15th birthday. Past 15 years old, dogs and cats are eligible for an accident-only policy.

12. 24PetWatch Doesn’t Cover Cruciate Ligaments Under Accident-only Plan

24PetWatch considers anything to do with cruciate ligaments to be an illness which means there would be no coverage for a cruciate ligament injury under their accident-only plan. Embrace understands that cruciate ligaments can rupture due to an accident, so we don’t exclude this condition in our accident-only plan.

13. Embrace Covers Working, Racing, and Guarding Activities

24PetWatch doesn’t cover injury or illness that a pet sustains while racing, hunting, coursing, serving with law enforcement, or guarding. As long as you let us know that your pet is involved in any of these activities at the start of your plan, or when your pet becomes involved in one of these activities, Embrace will cover them.

14. 24PetWatch Doesn’t Offer Dental Illness Coverage

24PetWatch does not cover dental illness including gingivitis, malocclusion, periodontal disease, root canals, and more. Embrace covers dental illness under our accident and illness insurance policy up to $1,000 per policy year.

15. 24PetWatch has Lifetime Limits on Repetitive Behavior

After three instances of what 24PetWatch deems “repetitive behavior,” they will no longer cover certain conditions in a pet’s lifetime, including foreign body ingestions, porcupine quills, fight/bite wounds/lacerations, motor vehicle injuries, and poison ingestions. Embrace covers one surgical removal of a foreign body ingestion per policy year, and there are no coverage restrictions for dog fights, toxin ingestion, or other repetitive behaviors.

16. Embrace Allows More Time to Submit Claims

24PetWatch requires you to submit claims within 180 days of the office visit. Embrace gives you your entire policy term, plus 60 days after it renews to submit your claims.

17. Quicker Claims Turnaround with Embrace

24PetWatch says that they can take up to 60 days to process your claim. Embrace processes claims within 15 business days.

18. Embrace has More Claims Submission Options

24PetWatch customers cannot submit paper claims, they must be submitted via fax or email only. Embrace is happy to accept claims sent via mail, email, fax, through their customer account, or sent through the Embrace Pet Insurance mobile app.

19. 24PetWatch Doesn’t have a Mobile App

Embrace has the Embrace Pet Insurance app available for Android and iOS users for on-the-go policy management, including claim submission, policy updates, adding pets, and more.

20. 24PetWatch has a Higher Monthly Processing Fee

24PetWatch’s monthly processing fee for billing is $2.50. That adds up to be $30 a year which is basically an extra insurance payment. Embrace’s processing fee is $1.00.

21. 24PetWatch Doesn’t Cover Pets Internationally

24PetWatch’s policy only covers pets in the United States and Canada. Embrace covers your pet wherever you travel, even when traveling internationally for up to six months.

22. 24PetWatch Doesn’t Offer 24/7 Pet Health Line

24PetWatch does not give their policyholders access to Pet Pros round-the-clock, so if you have questions about your pet’s behavior, diet, or a possible emergency, you’d have to wait for your vet’s regular business hours. Embrace has partnered with PawSupport to give our policyholders access to Pet Pros 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – even on holidays. And the best part is that this feature is included with every policy at no extra cost.
