October 10, 2016 - Cleveland, OH - Embrace Pet Insurance celebrates its 10th anniversary, along with its nearly 100 employees, more than 77,000 pets and countless pet parents. The company will celebrate throughout the week, looking back at the tremendous growth over the past decade, from a two person start up to a six-time NorthCoast 99 Winner that prides itself on its customer relationship experience, and unique workplace culture.
An idea became a winner in May 2003, when co-founders, Laura Bennett and Alex Krooglik were part of a team that won the Wharton Business Plan Competition. Their pet insurance plan beat out technology and biotechnology companies and a business was launched. Over the next three years Bennet and Krooglik refined plans, secured funding and cultivated strategic partnerships to launch Embrace and sell their first policy, October 10, 2006.
“When I look back on the 10 years we’ve been selling policies, what I’m really struck by is how we’ve grown from just two people with a business plan into a living, breathing company supported by nearly 100 people that work every day to improve the quality of pets’ lives,” says Laura Bennett, Co-Founder and Chief Embracer. “We don’t do transactions, we do relationships.”
Embrace established itself as an industry leader that prides itself on making the needs of pet parents a priority, while offering the best product with a professional, caring customer experience. A Customer Bill of Rights is a pledge they strive to deliver daily to their pet parents, a growing market with more than 150 million dogs and cats as pets in the United States.
Dan Miller of Sammamish, WA, and his 12-year-old Beagle, Ditto, have been policyholders since 2006, staying loyal to Embrace because they do business honestly, professionally, and always put their customers first.
“The Embrace staff, end to end, is top notch,” says Miller. “Whether it's dealing with policy renewals or answering questions about claims, everyone is super responsive and helpful. You don't get the typical stock answers that you would expect from customer service teams. Everything is truly personalized and feels sincere. The staff genuinely takes an interest in your family and your pet, and makes sure that claims and questions are answered quickly, professionally, and fairly.
Embrace has been recognized by the Plain Dealer as one of “Northeast Ohio's Top Workplaces” and is a six-time winner of the NorthCoast 99, a program that recognizes 99 workplaces for top talent in Northeast Ohio.
As an employer, Embrace understands the value of work/life balance, and is committed to a culture that celebrates employees for their accomplishments and stays committed to Embrace’s Core Values.
“Culture is a buzz word that many companies use, but the leadership at Embrace puts the time and resources into making it an incredible place to work,” says Chris Hagesfeld, Director of Customer Satisfaction at Embrace. “From espresso, to 10 minutes in the massage chair, to the CEO asking how you’re doing; it all leads to a great experience that allows us to provide a sincere and personal experience for our pet parents.”
