By Kara Bednarik

Top Cat Names

While cats tend to have pretty severe personalities, they can also have the sweetest streaks when they want. But no matter what, cats grow into their name so well.

Whether yours is named after a person or a television character, soon you’ll only see your cat when you hear the name. Embrace Pet Insurance sifted through more than one million quotes to find the top 10 most popular cat names of the year.

Ladies first:

Chloes took the lead with $43,707 in claims based on Embrace Pet Insurance 2018 data. Lucys were second with $31,903, and Sophies brought up the rear with $30,132 in claims.

While Sophies were third in total claims, one Sophie in particular had the most expensive claim in 2018. A nine-year-old Abyssinian kitty named Sophie (parented by Suzanne A. of Boulder, Colorado) had a claim in April for a brain abscess that was $7,824. Embrace Pet Insurance reimbursed $6,259 of that.
