Periodontal Disease in Pomeranian
Lucca's Bad Breath: A Sign of Problems
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Date: January 2009
Background
Lucca's bad breath was the first sign that something might be wrong. During her routine exam the veterinarian noticed that she had a malocclusion and that poor Lucca was already suffering from periodontal disease. While most pets develop some dental disease as adults, poor Lucca was not even one year old when her problems began.
In order to get her fixed up - and freshen her breath! - Lucca needed to have a very thorough cleaning, which would include anesthesia.
After her cleaning, her breath improved and Lucca's teeth and gums were less painful.
Lucca's Policy
Lucca's parents had included Embrace's drug and dental option with her policy and this covered her treatment for periodontal disease.
Because Lucca's plan has an annual deductible then future claims will have only co-pay once she reaches the deductible.
Lucca's Claim Refund
Lucca's claim refunded $67.83. Subsequent claim refunds will be higher because her annual deductible was satisfied with this claim.
