What Has Changed

Until just a few years ago there weren't many types of pet insurance plans available, it was mostly just VPI. Since then a raft of new companies have come along, bringing new and inarguably better coverage.

What Exactly Is Better?

In a nutshell many of the newer pet insurance plans:

• Do not use benefit schedules that cap claim refunds
• Do cover breed-specific conditions such as hip dysplasia
• Do have a greater focus on customer service
