Compare Embrace to Pets Best
Becoming a pet insurance expert means understanding the detailed differences between companies. To help you, we've prepared a list of a few important comparison points between Embrace vs Pets Best. Both companies reimburse a straight percentage of the vet bill, but we wanted to share some other information that could impact your out of pocket costs when you go to make a pet insurance claim.
Hereditary & Genetic Condition Coverage
Many companies leave you exposed with no coverage for genetic conditions. Embrace covers them. Hereditary and breed-specific conditions can lie dormant for years and when they do show signs it can cost thousands of dollars to treat them.
Pets Best hereditary coverage is only offered to pets enrolled by age 2, and pays $500 to $2,500 per condition. Furthermore, Pets Best will only cover a pre-determined list of conditions that is partly set by breed. For example glaucoma coverage is limited for Beagles, Siberian huskies, and Welsh Springer Spaniels.
Per-Incident Deductible
With Embrace, you only need to meet your deductible once per year, regardless of how many claims you make. With Pets Best, you pay a new deductible each time you visit the vet for a new condition. If your pet has an unlucky year you're out a few hundred dollars more.
Alternative Therapies
Why limit your options when it comes to doing what’s best for your pet? Embrace plans cover alternative therapies and rehab. Pets Best only offers you two choices for alternative therapy: acupuncture & chiropractic services, and limits reimbursements from $150 to $500 per year depending on which plan you choose.
Alternative therapies are often used to help treat cancer, skin issues, epilepsy, and more. Our coverage allows you to use any method of treatment your vet suggests including acpuncture, chiropractics, hydrotherapy, veterinary orthopedic massage, holistic and homeopathic medicine, and more.
Wellness & Routine Care Coverage
Embrace’s Wellness Rewards is a stand-alone plan to help you pay for your pet's routine care. You can spend an allowance of $200 (Wellness Basic Plan) or $400 (Wellness Plus) however you see fit. If a wellness exam plus heartworm medications total $190, that's how much you'd get back with Embrace. With Pets Best you'd only get $75 back. View our comparison on routine care.
Per-Incident Limitations
An incident is any accident or illness and per-incident limits restrict the overall amount you can be reimbursed. The Pets Best Basic plan has a per-incident limit of $2,500 and the Pets Best First plan limitation is $7,000. Embrace only limits you per year, not per incident. When Squiggy the cat was struck by a car her vet bills totaled $12,169. Embrace reimbursed $10,000 (the annual max chosen by our policy holder). A Pets Best Basic or Pets Best First plan would've left you paying $3,000 or $6,500 more in this case.
Multiple Discounts Available
At Embrace we offer up to 5 discounts totaling a possible 25% off of your pet insurance cost. Our discounts include Spay/Neuter, Multiple Pets, Annual Pay, Military Discount, and PennHIP. Pets Best only offers Multiple Pets and Annual Pay and does not allow more than one on your policy.
