Start date: March 2014
What is your background?
I always had a love for horses when I was growing up. After high school, I went to college at the University of Findlay and majored in Equestrian Studies. A few years later, I decided to go to Cuyahoga Community College to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. While in school, I started working at a general practice small animal veterinarian. Immediately prior to coming to Embrace, I worked at an Emergency/Specialty hospital as a Critical Care and Emergency Technician.
Do you have any pets currently?
I have a 5-year-old rescued Australian Cattle Dog/Beagle mix named Tori, who loves to compete in agility. I also have Oreo, a 6-year-old black and white Domestic Shorthair cat.
What is your favorite pet-related memory?
My favorite pet-related memory is when I got to take Tori to agility nationals. We had worked really hard to qualify since we were both so new to the sport. Then, I had to have foot surgery and was unable to run her until about 3 weeks prior to the event. Tori, even out of practice handled everything amazingly. Tori has a great work ethic and loves to do her job. It’s just a neat sight to see her change into competition mode on her own and block out everything but what I am directing her to do.
What’s your favorite thing about Embrace?
My favorite thing is definitely the environment! Everyone who works here is so friendly & happy to be doing their job.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy kayaking, hiking and trail running, biking, playing with my dog, and riding horses.
What is your favorite quote?
"Keep these concepts in mind: You have failed many times, although you don't remember. You fell the first time you tried to walk. You almost drowned the first time you tried to swim. R.H. Macy failed 7 times before his store in New York caught on. Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times. Don't worry about failure. My suggestion to each of you: Worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try." -Sherman Finesilver
Anything else we should know about you?
I play flute in a community band.
