Territory Outreach Representative
Start date: September 2013
What is your background?
I graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Zoology. While in college and after graduation, I worked for a veterinary hospital as a Veterinary Assistant. My work at the veterinary hospital provided me with 6 years of animal care experience. After a brief period of time working outside of the pet industry, I came to work for Embrace because my position here allows me to express my passion for animals and animal care.
Do you have any pets currently?
I currently have a tenacious Silky Terrier named Gizmo, an overly friendly Pit Bull Mix named Irie, three cats (Leonidas, Skittles and Charlotte,) and a bearded dragon aptly named Beardie.
What is your favorite pet-related memory?
I adopted my bearded dragon because he needed to have an operation to remove his infected leg. Unfortunately his original family did not have the means to care for him, and I wanted to give him a fighting chance. Right after the operation I was not sure how he would do on three legs so I took him outside in the grass, hopeful that he would at least be able to scoot around. Without any hesitation he not only was able to walk, but he ran! It never ceases to amaze me what animals are capable of accomplishing.
What’s your favorite thing about Embrace?
My favorite thing about Embrace is the passion that everyone who works here has for animals. You see this passion in their faces as they pause at work to throw a toy for one of the office dogs, when they talk about their pets at home, and through their interactions with pet parents. I think that it is a huge part of what makes Embrace such a great company.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy hiking, reading, gardening and volunteering for local animal rescue groups.
What is your favorite quote?
“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Mahatma Gandhi
