Start date: February 2014
What is your background?
I have been a resident of the Cleveland area for my entire life, and I ask myself why every winter. I graduated from Stautzenberger College in 2011 with an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences and Veterinary Technology. Shortly after graduating, I started work at Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists, where I worked as surgical technician, specializing in orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. In a short time, I began to manage the surgical department, working as the head surgical technician for two and half years. I occasionally pop in from time to time to help as part of their emergency team.
Do you have any pets currently?
Over the years I have collected five fur babies. Two dogs, a Plot Hound/Pitbull mix, Lodi, a Schnauzer/Dachshund mix, Cleo, and three Domestic Shorthair cats, Luna, Kahluah, and Cain.
What is your favorite pet-related memory?
My favorite pet related memory would have to be the day I came to adopt Cain. I was working as a technician at Great Lakes when I learned that someone had dropped off two two week old kittens. I peeked into the cage to find two very small (not even one-half pound) kittens, one all white, and one tuxedo. I would come to name them Cain and Mike. After a week or so in the hospital I decided to foster them. Time passed and both little boys were getting bigger and more troublesome. Luckily a friend of mine found a home for little Mike and after some debate I decided to keep Cain. Once a very small, very sick little baby, I am proud to say that Cain is now a healthy, happy, two year old that now surprisingly, runs the household.
What’s your favorite thing about Embrace?
My favorite thing about Embrace would have to the be atmosphere. It is an incredible feeling to wake up and come to work in an environment that is relaxing, laid back and allows you to work with the comforts of your pets by your side. Here, you’re not just surrounded by your coworkers, you’re surrounded by friends who joke with you, help you and help your day along.
What do you like to do in your free time?
These days I have little free time as I am a new mom of a six week old baby boy. My free time is his time. I spend it watching him explore the wonders of the world, trying to reach out for toys, stare endlessly at everything with eyes bigger than his head, teaching him the ropes; although being only six weeks old “the ropes” is more or less convincing him to nap. He is the love of my life, and I wouldn't change my free time for the world.
