What Isn't Covered?

Our coverage focuses on unexpected veterinary bills, not ones you can plan for. Therefore we do not cover:

  • Routine care coverage (why we don't recommend buying it)
  • Teeth cleaning
  • Cosmetic procedures such as tail docking, ear cropping, and dew claw removal (these are only covered when medically necessary)
  • Pregnancy
  • Spaying or neutering
  • Orthodontic or endodontic procedures such as root canals or crowns

We do not cover endodontic or orthodontic procedures because veterinarians tell us that dogs and cats cope very well with teeth extractions.

If you choose not to purchase optional Continuing Care Coverage then any chronic illnesses your pet develops may be considered pre-existing in subsequent policy terms.

How Does Embrace Handle Pre-existing Conditions?

We distinguish between temporary and permanent conditions. And just because your pet has a pre-existing condition of one sort or another does not mean he can't get pet insurance.
