Alternative and complementary therapies are veterinary practices and products that are not considered part of conventional veterinary medicine. For example, acupuncture and homeopathy are considered alternative and complementary therapies.

Alternative therapies for pets can have a positive impact on their lives and offer hope where conventional veterinary medicine stops.

Does Alternative Therapy Coverage Cost Extra?

No, it doesn't. Every Embrace policy (except our accident-only policy) automatically covers your pet for alternative and complementary therapies, you don't have to do anything.

What Is Covered?

Embrace will reimburse you for:

  • Treatment, rehabilitation therapy, and professional consultations associated with an illness or injury
  • Physiotherapy including Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM)
  • Hydrotherapy

Can I Visit Any Veterinarian?

You can seek treatment from a licensed veterinarian who must be a certified member of at least one of the following organizations:


Do I Need a Referral?

No, you do not require a referral but the specialist veterinarian you are visiting might, check with your own veterinarian first.
